Peter Van Hezewyk named CAA Niagara’s new President & CEO
THOROLD, ON (July 4, 2017) – CAA Niagara today announced the appointment of Peter Van Hezewyk as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Peter, who has more than 25 years experience in financial services, loyalty and telecom, is being promoted from his current role as the club’s Director of Operations. Mr. Van Hezewyk was among more than 150 applicants for the job.
"We put all the candidates through a very rigorous scrutiny, and Peter rose to the top, particularly because of his passion for CAA Niagara including both employees and members," said Rob DePetris, Chair of the CAA Niagara Board. "So, we’re absolutely delighted to have Peter taking the helm of CAA Niagara,".
The new CEO is a commerce and economics graduate from the University of Toronto and has held several progressively senior roles during his career, including Senior Director of Customer Experience for Cogeco Connexions, where he led the team that received six industry Highest Customer Satisfaction in Telecom awards. During his career, Peter held a variety of marketing and management roles for Canadian Tire Financial Services, Air Miles, CIBC Cards and Carlson Marketing.
"In my brief time here at CAA Niagara I have come to appreciate the true feeling of family among our staff and how that translates into a deep sense of caring for our members. I consider my key priority to be CEO – Chief Experience Officer," said Mr. Van Hezewyk.
A long-time resident of Niagara, Mr. Van Hezewyk and his wife, Lisa Craig, live in St. Catharines and have two children Victoria and Cameron. Peter will assume his new duties as President and CEO on July 10, 2017.
Founded in 1911 as the St. Catharines Automobile Club with just 16 members, CAA Niagara has grown to more than 122,000 members with five Niagara locations; St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Thorold and Grimsby. A not-for-profit membership organization, CAA Niagara provides emergency road services, travel, insurance and member rewards.
