THOROLD, ON (April 27, 2016) With three days remaining in CAA Niagara's Worst Roads Campaign, voters have put Queenston Street in St. Catharines in the top spot in the region.
This year, 343 different roads in the Niagara region have been nominated by drivers, transit users, cyclists and pedestrians for various reasons including potholes, congestion and safety.
Last year, Fort Erie's Dominion Road was named Niagara's worst. After appearing on the Niagara's Top 10 list since 2014, Dominion Road is scheduled for reconstruction beginning in 2017.
"The Region is currently designing two road construction projects along Dominion Road with construction forecasted for the 2017 and 2018 construction season," said Ron Tripp, Niagara Region Commissioner of Public Works. "These projects will involve the reconstruction of Dominion Road between Helena Street and Lakeshore Road and reconstruction work along the portion of road between Burleigh Road and Buffalo Road."

It's not too late to vote. The CAA Worst Roads Campaign ends April 29 at 11:59 p.m. Niagara's road users are encouraged to vote for their "worst road" at caaworstroads.com. Voters will be entered to win $2500 worth of gas. Following the campaign, CAA will share its top 10 Worst Roads list with provincial and local government officials.
CAA Niagara offers insurance, travel, roadside assistance and member rewards. Founded in 1911 as the St. Catharines Automobile Club with just 16 members, CAA Niagara has grown to about 120,000 members with five Niagara locations.
